Weingut Rappenhof (Estate) This large
family-run wine estate can look back on a long tradition. In fact, its
origins can be traced back to the year 1604.The Rappenhof estate is a
member of the VDP and the Barrique Forum. The family cultivates a total
of 50 hectares, Riesling is especially important here, with a 40 percent
share of the growing area. Red and white burgundy varieties and
Chardonnay form a second major category. These varieties together cover
40 percent of the growing area. In addition, Müller-Thurgau, Silvaner,
Scheurebe, Gewürztraminer and Portugieser are also in the assortment. 10
percent of the growing surface is located on slopes and 50 percent on
hillsides. For years now, barrique processing has been used in the
firm's cellars and open fermentation on the skins as well as wooden
barrel aging have been practiced in the production of red wines.65
